The Algas-SDI TX160-D3 is a single-core TORREXX™ dry electric vaporizer built for LPG and propane-air applications where 3-phase power is available. Unlike electric waterbath vaporizers, the TORREXX design uses no water or glycol, avoiding the corrosion, evaporation, and frequent shutdowns associated with that technology, while delivering 98% thermal efficiency. The "D3" designation identifies a specific electrical control configuration of the TX160 (Algas-SDI documents the TORREXX line as using either a hermetic mercury relay or a contactor to power the heating elements, depending on model) — confirm the exact electrical configuration on the nameplate or with Algas-SDI/BurnerParts before ordering if it matters for your installation. Cast "in-situ" heating elements inside a finned aluminum heat exchanger bring the unit to operating temperature in under 60 seconds from a cold start. Two K-type thermocouples in a common sheath monitor operating temperature and control the liquid inlet solenoid valve, with fusible links in the control housing providing additional over-temperature protection. The proprietary Liqui-SAFE™ Valve prevents liquid LPG carry-over downstream of the vaporizer and gives a visual trip indication for easy troubleshooting. The TX160-D3 is rated for continuous operation from -40°F to 100°F ambient and runs on any LPG mixture from 100% propane to 100% butane. Its Class I, Division 1, Group D hazardous-area rating allows installation immediately adjacent to a storage tank or building with no minimum separation distance required. An optional, pressure-activated economy operation valve (no electricity required) can be field-installed to run the unit only when needed.
